Wine tourism for all

The Iter Vitis France association is taking part in a European cooperation program between Spain, France and the United Kingdom, aimed at developing wine tourism mediation tools to adapt to the expectations of all, particularly people with disabilities.

Iter Vitis, wine heritage trails for everyone.

Vitis 4All links the wine-growing areas of France and Somontano (Huesca, Spain) to provide access to wine tourism for people with special needs, using the landscape and heritage of wine as an element of integration, multiplying the possibilities for real equality.

The Somontano de Barbastro, together with the Somontano Wine Route and Iter Vitis France, are opening the doors of their territories to people with disabilities.

Wine tourism for all, this initiative aims to reinforce the coherence and effectiveness of local policies recognized as a factor of sustainable integration, notably because they include:

  • promoting equality in the social inclusion of people with special needs
  • promoting Europe’s natural and cultural heritage by making it accessible to all.

The project aims to raise awareness of the need to bring together public and private players in the same destination around wine tourism to stimulate innovation and develop synergies that promote economic activity including wine heritage.

It will enable us to adapt our offer to a segment of the population with special needs, making wine tourism a product for everyone.

The Vitis 4 All project optimizes the existing “Wine Route” tourist product in the partner territories. It enhances the Vignobles & Découvertes and Tourisme & Handicaps labels.

The project is supported by ENAT – European Network for Accessible Tourism.

The objectives are as follows:

  • Create a transnational tourism product linked to winegrowing cultural heritage integrated into the international and European tourism market, aimed at people with disabilities or temporary special needs.
  • Improve market targets, attract a new type of customer outside the seasonal tourism business
  • Promote accessible products and packages for use as communication channels
  • Giving people the opportunity to learn about cultural wine tourism, oriented and adapted to inclusive tourism.
  • Provide access to information on the wine tourism product to people in difficulty thanks to technological tools.
  • Improve the skills of tourism agents through training in accessibility.
